Mammoth Keychain. The Woolly Mammoth, often referred to simply as the "Mammoth," was a majestic and colossal prehistoric creature that roamed during the Pleistocene epoch. These massive mammals were closely related to modern elephants, particularly the Asian Elephant. The Woolly Mammoth earned its name from the thick, shaggy coat of long hair that covered its body, providing insulation against the frigid temperatures of the Ice Age. These remarkable animals had long, curved tusks that could reach impressive lengths and were used for various purposes, including foraging for food and defending against predators. Woolly Mammoths were herbivores, feeding on a diet of grasses and vegetation. They inhabited the vast, icy tundras of the Northern Hemisphere, where they coexisted with other Ice Age megafauna. Sadly, the Woolly Mammoth is now extinct, but its fascinating history and the study of its remains continue to captivate scientists and enthusiasts alike.
